Today the Knot Won

With a few spare minutes to stitch this morning, I wanted to work on my fishy tea towel, a Mary Corbet design. I find it relaxing to choose different colours and stitches as I go along.
When the thread seemed to snag, I turned it over to find a nasty big knot!
The question is, how long do you try to untangle it for? I spent ages carefully trying to prise the knot open and straighten out the thread. But, today the knot won!
I shall have to cut the thread and unpick. Fortunately there's not a lot to undo.

  1. I try to work on the knot as long as I can, not wanting to give up, but sometimes there’s just no hope. I don’t give up easily. The fish is very cute!

  2. This is such a bothersome snag in embroidery! I tend to cut my thread long so as not to have to change threads often. However, the longer the thread, the more likely it is to knot itself - and usually on the reverse, where I don't see it until it is too late.
Snagging casts a bit of gloom over stitching that should be enjoyable, especially with this colourful and lovely marine design.
