Lavender bookmark progress

All the cross stitch on my lavender bookmark is complete. The flowers are not exactly the same shape as those on the original pattern but I think they are close enough. I still have to add dark straight stitches to give the lavender blooms more depth and decide what to put in the empty oval at the bottom.

The last stage will be adding a ribbon backing and finally a tassel. I like that the ribbon and tassel came with the kit. It saves hunting around for the materials to give a nice finish to the bookmark.

  1. Nice work, but I think the dark fabric must have been a strain on your eyes. Wasn't it hard to see?

    1. Yes, it was hard to see what I was doing on the dark fabric. Only after I tried working on it one evening did I realise just how tricky it was going to be. I guess the years are starting to catch up with me.

  2. I love the colours, and the tassel looks great. You've done a terrific job. Initials in the oval space?

    1. The colours are very pretty in real life. My photographs don't do them justice. I'd opt for a white background to show off their delicacy, but as this was a kit, and a gift, I stuck with the original fabric. Sadly the friend who surprised me with the kit is no longer with us to see it completed.
That open space is calling out for something. I agree. Initiala seem like 'it'.

  3. Initials not initiala! I can't even blame spellcheck for that oops.
